No one’s story stops at work.

Photography
Being the daughter of an avid amateur photographer I grew up with cameras. My dad taught me everything I needed to know and we carried dueling cameras on our long road trips back and forth across the country. On one trip we took over 500 35mm images. My bachelors degree is in film and it will always be an important part of who I am. I have a few cameras but my main is a Canon D90.

Writing
During winter break my second year of grad school I wrote an 80,000 word novel. Why? I had an idea in my head that wouldn’t go away. I was as shocked as anyone else when I had a finished first draft. I enjoy writing fiction and non-fiction including technical writing like Standard Operating Procedures. I have high standards for everything that I write and will often spend longer proofing and editing than writing.

Disney
Growing up, our regular summer vacation was a trip to Walt Disney World. Now, as a “Disney adult,” that’s still a pilgrimage I make each year. Disney really represents the nostalgia of my childhood and some of my best memories with my family. Disney movies are watched often in my house and Disney collectibles occupy the most prominent shelves around the house. I have quite a collection of “ears.”

Collecting
Finding and organizing things is incredibly fulfilling for me. What I’m collecting changes from time to time and I will clear out one collection to make room for another. My largest, longest ongoing collection is LEGO. Currently, I am hunting virtual pets like Tamagotchi as well as uranium glass.

Video Games
Most techy people are gamers to some degree and I am no exception. I play all manner of games from many eras. I primarily play on the PC, but you can also find me on one of our six consoles. A few of my favorite games and franchises are World of Warcraft, Fallout, Pokemon, Tetris, Elder Scrolls, Planet Zoo and PowerWash Simulator.

Music
I love 80’s glam and hair metal, but I listen to quite a variety of music. I have played the guitar since high school. Back then I played the contra alto clarinet in symphonic band and was drum major of the marching band. I like to write songs and am known to drop whatever I’m doing to write down some lyrics that just popped into my head.
